The Upliftment of all beings, this is the goal of yoga.
Our studio specialises in Vinyasa and Yin classes, and most scheduled classes fall within these categories.
Vinyasa is a Sanskrit word that means ‘to place in a specific and special way’, emphasising the importance of intention and awareness.
In yoga asana specifically, a ‘vinyasa class’ describes the movement as flowing (not static), intentional and guided by breath. Postures are often taught sequentially to reach a safe and desired outcome or pose. Within the broad category of vinyasa, classes can differ greatly between very slow moving or faster paced. We have delineated this difference as ‘Slow Vinyasa’ & ‘Vinyasa 2’ for clarity.
SLOW VINYASA
Our Slow Vinyasa classes invite a mindful coordination of body, breath and awareness, providing a moving meditation that meets you where you’re at every time you find the mat. Each teacher offers their own slightly different way of delivering the energetic + physical practice, and each class is purposefully designed to build mobility, strength, balance and proprioception, and a greater capacity to understand ourselves. Suitable for all levels, classes will be breath-centred and focused on the abilities and needs of the students.
VINYASA 2
Vinyasa 2 classes are designed to be more quickly flowing, with transitions and postures ideal for students who enjoy a challenge. Classes will often include more complex transitions, more inversions, and less overall instruction of the poses as the dynamic sequence will move fluidly through the intentionally designed sequence.
YIN
In a Yin class, poses are low to the ground and held for longer periods of time in passive ways to stimulate the meridians of the body and access connective tissues that may be tight and holding tension. Long held postures promote increased flexibility and enhanced circulation alongside stillness of mind, mental resilience and growth. These classes are great for anyone looking to reconnect to the inner stillness and harmonise the flow of Qi in the body. All levels welcome.
MOVE BREATHE ROLL
This beginner-friendly class invites curiosity, mindfulness, grace and ease, inviting self-inquiry to create a holistic and sustainable practice. Traditional asana (postures) infused with insights, tips and tweaks drawing from broad range of evidence-based methods including myofascial release and alexander technique to add to your toolbox of movement exploration.
Perfect for yogis who want to connect deeply with their bodies and explore beautiful, functional movement in a safe and supportive space.
YANG TO YIN
Our bodies are a microcosm of the wondrous yin + yang polarities that exist all around us. And sometimes, we don't want to choose between a class that offers yang, and one that offers yin. So—why not both? This class will get the bodies moving with warming, dynamic postures and sun salutes, moving toward an ooey gooey yin-style finale leaving us grounded and restored for the rest of the day.
KUNDALINI
A class dedicated to fiery transformation. Combining physical postures, dynamic breathing techniques, and chanting, this Friday morning offering will move and awaken the "Kundalini energy" within our bodies and work to align the body's energy centers, or chakras, through a sequence of intentional movements. Each class will offer pranayama, mantra, a set of specific sequences or "kriyas," some dynamic sun salutes, traditional savasana + closing meditation. SAT NAM.
BARRE BALANCE
This traditional Barre offering uses small, isometric movements to nourish and fatigue your muscles (and yes, make them burn!). The pace is set to invite strength and control, with the space to learn each movement and feel confident in the alignment of your body and all it is capable of.
