Familiarity w/ major yogic texts (i.e., Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads)
Detailed understanding and application of the 8 Limbs of Patanjali
Self-reflection on how philosophy relates to our modern asana practice; applied concepts
Pranayama & Subtle Body
Effects of pranayama (breath control) on anatomy and subtle body
Complete sequencing of pranayama safely, including alternatives and adaptations of Ujjayi, Nadi Shodhana, Kapalabhati, among others
Detailed investigation into koshas, kleshas, bandhas, gunas, chakras, nadis and prana vayus
Intro to Ayurveda; how the ancient sister science of yoga operates and is relevant to our practice
Asana
Historical context
Postures specific to lineage
Complete sequencing (asana, pranayama, bandha, meditation) to cultivate and encourage energetic outcomes
Anatomical and alignment principles, plus contraindications, and a deeper look at the ‘why’
Meditation
Key meditation terms & understanding of challenges, tools, & advanced goals of practice
Meditation methods by lineage
Chanting, mantras, japa mala and mudras
